At TYKMA Electrox, our Laser Machine Assembly Lab is where our engineers assemble, test, and repair laser control boxes and scanhead assemblies. This specialized section in our facility plays a crucial role in configuring our selection of lasers for marking and engraving. From crafting high-quality laser engraving machines to ensuring they meet the highest standards, our lab is at the heart of our manufacturing process. Without the laser, we have no system. Check out the quick video below showcasing the inner workings of our Laser Machine Assembly Lab.
What is a Laser Machine Assembly?

In this part of our facility, we assemble the core components of the laser machine, including:
- Laser Control Box and Software: The central unit that manages the laser’s functions and settings, equipped with custom software for precise control.
- Laser Source: The origin of the laser beam, available in various types like IR (MOPA fiber), CO2, UV, and Green, depending on the application.
- Laser Galvanometer Scanning Head (Laser Head): A device that directs the laser beam through the laser lens with high-speed mirrors, allowing for precise engraving and cutting.
- Laser Lens: Focuses the laser beam onto the material, essential for achieving the desired marking or cutting depth and precision. This is screwed into the laser head.
These components form the heart of what we refer to as the “laser machine.” Once assembled, this machine is integrated into a larger “laser system,” which includes:
- Workstation Type: Class 1 benchtop, tower, dial table, or custom enclosures
- Safety Doors, Windows, and Interlocks: Safety features that protect operators and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Learn more about the importance of laser marking safety and how these features contribute to a secure working environment.
- Windows PC Computer with Laser Software GUI:
A user-friendly interface that allows operators to control the laser system and input specific tasks or designs.
This full system ensures user safety and provides an intuitive interface for controlling and operating the laser machine.
What Types of Lasers are Assembled in the Lab?

In our Laser Machine Assembly Lab, we assemble a wide selection of lasers for engraving, including those with wavelengths in IR (MOPA fiber), CO2, UV, and Green. These lasers are designed, built, and tested to meet the highest standards. We also assemble the laser controller, install the laser software, and rigorously test and calibrate lenses to ensure optimal performance.
Who Works in the Laser Machine Assembly Lab?

Our team consists of experts with a background in electrical engineering. These skilled professionals are crucial to the assembly, testing, and repairing of our laser head assemblies. Their expertise ensures that every product meets our rigorous standards and performs reliably in real-world applications.
What Quality Control Measures are in Place?
Our lab is sectioned off from the main production floor in a positive pressure room, minimizing dust exposure to the galvanometer scanning system. We adhere to strict quality control protocols, including comprehensive testing of all components and final systems to ensure they meet both our standards and industry certifications.
What are the Safety Protocols Followed in the Lab?

Outside the lab, engineers and technicians are protected by laser safety windows, and laser blocking dividers. While inside the lab, engineers wear laser safety glasses when the laser is operating. We also use a mobile fume extraction device to remove harmful fumes and particulates produced during the laser testing process, ensuring a safe working environment.
Can Customers Visit the Laser Machine Assembly Lab?
Of course! It’s a standard procedure to invite our customers into our manufacturing facility. We offer guided tours by appointment, ensuring visitors are briefed on safety protocols and provided with necessary protective gear. We are located in Ohio just one hour south of Columbus Airport in the city of Chillicothe.
