At SHOT Show, TYKMA Electrox demonstrated the Minilase XL MFSS laser engraving system in a live production environment using real customer parts. This was not a controlled lab test. The system was marking complex geometries, Cerakoted surfaces, and oversized components in real time.
Watch the Minilase XL MFSS laser engraving system in action during a live SHOT Show demonstration.
Precision Max™ Technology and MFSS Scan Head Accuracy
Precision Max™ technology uses a proprietary multi-point calibration process to dynamically correct lens distortion and field non-linearity. This allows the laser engraving system to maintain consistent accuracy across the full scan field rather than drifting at the edges.

Within the Precision Max platform, the MFSS (Medium Field Small Spot) scan head is optimized for applications that require both detail and coverage. With Precision Max calibration applied, MFSS achieves accuracy better than ±0.001 inch (±25 microns) across a 12 inch by 12 inch marking field.
STL-Based Laser Engraving on Complex and Contoured Parts
The Minilase XL MFSS system is capable of STL-based marking workflows. Artwork and alphanumeric data can be mapped directly to the part’s 3D geometry rather than projected onto a flat plane.

Large Part Laser Engraving Without a Gantry System
In the live demo, TYKMA engraved a 19-inch-long part using the Minilase XL platform without an XY gantry. By positioning the part at a 45-degree angle, the system leveraged the usable marking field geometry to engrave the entire length in a single setup.

Cerakote Laser Imaging at Production Speeds
Cerakote Laser Imaging was a key application demonstrated at SHOT Show. A Cerakoted fiberglass rifle chassis was processed live using the Minilase XL MFSS system. Each side of the part was laser imaged in approximately 1 minute and 15 seconds. Discover our line of Cerakote-certified laser imaging systems, and how you can start marking cerakote surfaces.

Check out this demo from the Cerakote booth at SHOT Show 2026, demonstrating how titanium color marking can be achieved with the same laser while ablating through cerakote. Hear from Spartan Blades, one of our customers, on how they use their TYKMA Electrox lasers for marking color on titanium knife handles.
Applications Beyond Cerakote Laser Imaging

The Minilase XL MFSS MOPA fiber laser engraving system supports deep engraving, high-contrast marking, etching, titanium color marking, select plastic marking, and decorative patterning. Our ultraviolet (UV) laser option is the best for all materials, from detailed glass marking to engraving leather. The UV is the best-in-class option for businesses with a wide range of products and applications.
In the defense and aerospace sectors, MFSS supports precise marking on contoured components, housings, and assemblies where consistent placement and tight tolerances are critical.
For automotive and general industry applications, the system enables high-contrast marking, deep engraving, and decorative or functional patterning across a wide range of metals and coated surfaces.
In electronics and medical manufacturing, Precision Max calibration provides the accuracy needed for small features, dense layouts, and repeatable marking across multiple parts or arrays.
Our laser engraving systems are also used in education and productsenvironments for research, prototyping, training, and low- to mid-volume production where versatility and ease of setup are important.
