From September 9th to 14th, TYKMA Electrox proudly exhibited at IMTS 2024 in Chicago. With a busy booth and four powerful laser engraving systems on display, we were thrilled to connect with over 300 visitors, both new faces and familiar clients. Our team had an incredible show, demonstrating our latest laser innovations.
Below you’ll find the highlights from our booth, including new video content!
The Zetalase™ XL UV System
Our Zetalase XL UV laser engraving system was a show favorite, configured specifically for marking glass cups with a custom IMTS design. Equipped with a high-power ultraviolet laser engraver, it is the best choice for marking challenging materials like glass and plastics, and can also mark organic materials like leather and paper. When engraving glass, traditional CO2 lasers create microfractures while UV lasers achieve more uniform and detailed engravings.

Why is UV Laser Engraving so Great?
One of the main reasons why the ultraviolet wavelength is so great is because of its cold marking capabilities. When it comes to engraving or etching glass, traditional CO2 lasers are so hot which leads to localized expansion and contraction, causing microfractures. The UV wavelength generates significantly less heat while drastically improving final etch quality and cycle times.
This makes the UV wavelength ideal for sensitive surfaces, creating cold marks on plastics that are critical for industries like medical device manufacturing, where UDI medical marking standards must be met. It’s one of the most versatile laser wavelengths we have available.
Level-Up Your Glass Engraving Process by Switching to UV Lasers
Laser Engraving Titanium Rulers with the Minilase™ XL
Our Minilase XL stood out with its impressive 12”x12” (300mm x 300mm) laser marking field, achieving a 25-micron tolerance thanks to our LFSS scan head. We showcased this machine by laser engraving titanium rulers, complete with fine graduation markings and a distinctive Damascus steel pattern for added visual appeal.
Titanium’s unique properties allow us to laser engrave our logo in color, demonstrating the versatility of the 60-watt MOPA fiber laser. Marking color on titanium can be challenging due to the various types of titanium, but our machine’s capabilities make it simple.
Virtus™ Class 4 Laser Engraver with Cerakote® Laser Imaging
The Virtus Class 4 laser engraver showcased our exclusive Cerakote® Laser Imaging technology, developed in partnership with Cerakote®. This partnership was a journey to discover how the laser reacts with different ceramic paint colors. Kryptikote, an awesome customer of ours, is a big leader in this space and has graciously provided us with some of their work to display at the IMTS show.

The Virtus laser engraving system is one of only two certified systems for Cerakote® Laser Imaging and comes with a laser settings guidebook to get you started. Just like any laser, the Virtus can be used for shallow etching to deep engraving metals. Though its Class 4 configuration requires enhanced safety measures, it opens up endless possibilities for engraving large products, making it a valuable laser machine for any production line.
The Atlas™ Gantry Laser Engraver

Finally, our Atlas Gantry Laser Engraver, with its expansive 48” x 24” engraving area and motorized XY fixture table, attracted attention for its large platform marking and engraving applications. The Atlas allows for high-precision engraving on large parts or multiple smaller components, all within a Class 1 enclosure, making it a popular choice for customers with industrial-scale needs.
